HOME MEMORIES

“An artistic journey that has transformed
hospitality into a sense of belonging.”

The project involved refugee children and young people aged between 5 and 12, from different ethnic backgrounds, in a process of co-creation to reimagine their own spaces.

Right from the design stage, the young residents completely redesigned the rooms in the complex where daily activities take place, incorporating their own suggestions. These ideas were then brought to life and painted. The rooms – which were initially cold and unwelcoming – have been transformed into warm, comfortable and meaningful spaces.

The project met with great enthusiasm among the participants, who attended the activities in large numbers and spontaneously from the second day ahead. Despite their diversity in terms of age, language, culture, and religion, the children and young people demonstrated an outstanding capacity to work both autonomously and collaboratively (in pairs or groups), succeeding in fostering a cohesive community.
